New technologies of remote-sensing, visualizations and Geographic Information Systems have revolutionized how scientists investigate Earth, and will inevitably revolutionize how students learn about and investigate Earth.

This Web site presents the findings of Visualizing Earth, a research project funded by the National Science Foundation, with the goal of better understanding how students learn to work with and make meaning of images and visualizations.

The findings of Visualizing Earth will help educators and materials developers more effectively tap into the educational power of geographic visualizations.
